These days, when people hear faith they immediately think of the "R" word. With so many different interpretations of the same message how could someone not confuse faith for a religious practice?
First, let's define "Faith" from both the common knowledge and the biblical perspectives. According to "Oxford Languages Dictionary" Faith is defined as follows:
-
strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof:"bereaved people who have shown supreme faith"
-
a system of religious belief:"the Christian faith"
According to the scripture Faith is defined as follows:
Hebrews 11:1-3
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
No wonder people walk around looking at believers of the Heavenly message as if we are fanatics; Insane even. In order for understanding to exist, there needs to be a very mutual foundation for this understanding to exist. What is this foundation? I would suggest that this foundation is the very gospel of Jesus Christ. Not only what was written about him but, his own words and the literal truth that he imparted to us to share with the world.
Believe it or not, every single human being on earth has faith. The belief in what exists in your imagination. The intimate connection that hope gives you to the things your mind gives substance to by believing in them. So, why is it so difficult for everyone to be on the same page? How can we trust that there is one truth that includes believers and the unconverted alike? The answer can be found in the Scriptures that remind us of the transformative renewal that only comes by the power of love and faith towards Jesus Christ which also embodies loving every single one of our fellow men and women here in this life.
Although our love isn't always received in the way we intend, we must constantly work to purify our hearts to the point of unmistakable grace; enabling us to be gentle and kind to even the most hateful doubters.
All in all, there is no mundane explanation for a very spiritual and experience that we must all go through in order to share the same faith and love that comes from the foundation of the Word of God; Jesus Christ. Faith is the key and Love is the way. Stay blessed and remain faithful!
